"Grandma" Strub died very suddenly early Monday morning at her home on Diagonal street, aged over 78 years. While she had been in failing health for sometime she was able to enjoy a car ride Sunday afternoon with her granddaughter Clara Strub, and in the evening she visited neighbors on the porch. She retired feeling well as usual but after midnight suffered a heart attack and died in a few minutes.
Deceased was born in Luxemberg in September 1836, and came to America when about 10 years old. Nearly sixty years ago she was married to the late Joseph Strub, who died in September, 1899. To this union were born thirteen children, four of whom sleep in death with their parents. Those surviving are John, on the old homestead; Barney and Frank, Lansing township; William, Ryegate, Montana; Mesdames Kate Schetgen, Dubuque; Mary Wagner, Lafayette township; Anna Lowney, Chicago; Louise Jackley, Ashton, Iowa; and Margaret Betsinger at home. She is also survived by 56 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and one brother, Peter Klees. The family lived on the farm in this township many years before moving to Lansing 24 years ago.
Mrs. Strub was truly a Christian wife and mother, a kind and generous neighbor and friend. Her greatest delight was in her children and her home and while they will miss her most, a wide circle of friends will also mourn her passing.
The funeral took place this morning at 9:30 o'clock from Immaculate Conception church, Father Pieckert of Dubuque officiating, and interment in Gethsemane cemetery.
