“Mrs. Marti had spent the afternoon quilting at the home of her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bakewell, two and a half miles southeast of town and got into her car to return home.

“A few minutes after leaving, Miss Evelyn Bakewell, noticing the car come to a stop and no one getting out, ran to the car and, being unable to arouse Mrs. Marti, then called to her father, and the Bakewell family hastened to the point where the Marti car had stopped and were horrified to find that the daughter’s suspicions might be rtue. Mrs Marti was placed in the Bakewell car and rushed to Dr. F. D. Smith’s office, the doctor happening to be in his office at the time. Mrs. Marti had already passed on.

“Hattie Dee was born Feb. 16, 1883, at Lansing, Iowa, her parents being Charles and (Emma Feuerhelm) Dee. She was united in marriage to William F. Marti Sept. 11, 1907, and by this union two sons were born, Clinton and Ervin, both of whom, together with the sorrowing husband survive her. She is also survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dee, and four brothers, Harry Clinton, Leonard and Tresco, all residing near Lansing, Iowa, and Mrs. Harry Bakewell, residing southeast of Kasson, also a host of relatives and friends. Mrs. Marti passed away at about 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 1935, at the age of 52 years, one month and 10 days.

“Mrs. Marti had since birth resided at Lansing, Iowa, until her marriage Sept. 11, 1907, then coming to Kasson the day following their wedding, 27 years ago last fall.

“Mrs. Marti was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of Kasson and the Ladies Aid and Good Fellowship class of that church, the Royal Neighbor lodge and the Harmony club. She was an earnest Christian woman and will be greatly missed not only in her immediate family, but also in church and social circles.”

Funeral services were conducted on Thursday evening at 2:30 o’clock in Kasson at 2:30 o’clock at the home of her pastor, the Rev. A. W. Brown.
