SMITH, MARGARET

Last rites for Margaret Smith, who died November 25, 1971 at a LaCrosse, Wisconsin hospital, were held Saturday morning from St.Patrick Catholic Church here with Msgr. Frederic Heles officiating. Father O'Sullivan and Father Don Hutchinson were in the sanctuary. Burial was at St.Mary's Cemetery, Lycurgus, with Father Raymond Duffy officiating and Bakke and Hanson in charge. Pallbearers were Matt Ryan, Joseph Deeney, Leonard McGahn, Norbert A'Hearn, James Drew and Ray Kibby.

Miss Smith, who had been ill for some time, was well-known as a seamstress associated with her two sisters, Ella and Veronica, who remain. She was born April 7, 1895 in French Creek township, daughter of Charles and Catherine (McCauley) Smith. Educated in the rural schools she lived in French Creek township until 1917 when the family moved to Waukon.

Her parents and two sisters, Mary A. Smith and Sister Mary Justine, preceded her in death. Miss Smith was a member of St.Patrick parish and of the Rosary Society.
