Louis V. Walleser, age 78, of Lansing, died Monday, March 10, 2003, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon as the result of injuries sustained in a car accident. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 15, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing with Msgr. Edward Lechtenberg officiating. Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery, Lansing. Thornburg Hanson Funeral Home in Lansing assisted with arrangements.
Louis V. Walleser was born October 5, 1924, in Pearson, Manitoba, Canada, to John J. and Anna Etta (Berns) Walleser. He was married to Joan Brouillet June 10, 1950, at Holy Apostles Catholic Church in New Berlin,Wis. Early in his life he helped farm at home. Later, he helped his uncle farm for three years in the Garnavillo area. In 1954, he started work at Brennan Construction as a mechanic, which he did for 37 years until he retired. During retirement, Louis enjoyed helping his nephew farm. Louis is survived by his wife, Joan of Lansing; seven children, Terry Walleser of Arlee, Mont., Tim (Gwen) Walleser of Janesville, Wis., Linda (Roger) Hartwich of River Falls, Wis., Leo (Ruth) Walleser of Menomonie, Wis., Anne (Jim) Rundall of Bremerton, Wash., Donald (Angel) Walleser of Lansing, and Josie Ehlert of Janesville; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; eight siblings, Stan (Velma) Walleser of De Soto, Wis., Francis "Chip" Walleser of Lansing, Alice Griffin of Dayton, Ohio, Lawrence "Duke" (Esther) Walleser of Lansing, Willi (Gerald) Finkral of Meadow Grove, Neb., Isabelle (Bud) Hawes of Lansing, Phyllis (Lou) Kimsey of Ft. Collins, Colo., and Colleen (Del) Brown of Ft. Collins. Louis was preceded in death by his parents, J.J. and Etta Walleser; a granddaughter, Emily Walleser; three siblings, Edwin, Bill, and Helen Freiburger; two nieces; and six nephews. Casketbearers were Jim Brennan, Jim Keenan, Bob Van Brocklin, Jim Conway, Dan Conway, and Marty Brennan.
