Reinbold C. Nees Dies After Stroke

Reinbold C. Nees, who was the victim of a paralytic stroke at St. Mary’s hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, Thursday of last week, died at that place Friday, March 13th, and was brought back to Lansing Friday evening.

Mr. Nees, aged 60, was born October 17, 1875, at Lycurgus, the son of Charles and Wilhelmina Nees. He attended rural school in Lycurgus, and also at Waukon. For a number of years he was engaged as a harnessmaker for T. F. O’Brien in Waukon. He followed this same trade in Spencer, Iowa, for several years. From 1919 until 1929 he served as rural mail carrier in Lansing, when he retired upon being disabled by partial loss of sight.

He leaves to mourn his sister, Mrs. Frieda Fritz and her daughter Meta, with whom he made his home the past years.

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 15, at 2 p.m. from the home, conducted by Reverend C. Hoffman. Burial was made in Engelhorn cemetery on Lansing Ridge.

Pallbearers were Messrs. Carl Colbertson, Carl Wagner, Otto Wurm, George Scholtes, Norm Martinson and Alphonse Hess.
