"Passing of a Pioneer"

"At the family home in Lafayette township on Friday last occurred the death of John Roggensack, another pioneer of the County, at the age of 83 years. Deceased was born in Germany and came to Allamakee County in 1863 and has since made his home here. He leaves a widow, age 81 years, two sons, Martin and John and one daughter, Mrs. H. Halbrahder. The funeral occurred Monday afternoon, a very large procession followed the remains to the Evangelical church where Rev. Buente pronounced a fitting eulogy, and burial taking place at Oak Hill cemetery, six of the grandsons acting as pallbearers."
