Fern Elizabeth Rethwisch, 87, died June 14, 1995 at Thornton Manor.
She was born December 24, 1907, in Dubuque, the daughter of Joseph and Grace (Worth) Trayer.
She married Phillip Rethwisch in Mason City June 19, 1932. Fern was the bookkeeper for the family lumber business for nearly 20 years.
Survivors include a son Pete (Pat) Rethwisch of Lansing two sisters, Evelyn Schapper and Helene Wisner, both of Mason City; a brother, Joe Trayer of Garnavillo; eight grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Fern was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter Marilyn; a brother John; a granddaughter, Jayne; a grandson, Robert; and a great grandson Ricky.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church, Lansing, Father Herbert Tegeler officiated. Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Jeff Darling, Dan Rethwisch, Dave Rethwisch, Jay Rethwisch and Jerry Rethwisch.
Burke Thornburg Funeral Home, Lansing, was in charge of arrangements.
