Jefrie T. White, 21, of Iowa City, died Saturday, June 17, 1995 at Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse of injuries sustained in a one-vehicle accident near Dorchester.
He was born March 3, 1974 in Durham, NC to Richard and Shirley (Hipp) White. Jef had lived in Raleigh, NC, Rochester, NY, Lansing, Colorado Springs and Durango, CO. The family lived in Lansing from1979-1985.
Jef graduated in 1992 from Thomas B. Doherty High School, Colorado Springs, CO, attended Fr. Lewis College in Durango for one year, and was a junior at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, majoring in English. He had been working at the Bo-James Restaurant in Iowa City.
He had been a member of the National Eagle Scout Association since 1991.
Surviving are his parents and a brother Eric, all of Colorado Springs; maternal grandmother, Margaret and her husband Clair Diehl of Jacksonville, FL; six aunts; four uncles and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert and Uvonne White, and maternal grandfather, Herman Hipp.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 21 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon. The Rt. Rev. Monsignor Ed Lechtenberg officiated. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Casket bearers were Michael and Jon Hagar, Steve Dougherty, Ron and Jared White and Morgan Cohen.
Honorary bearers were Drew Hager, Shane Nelson, Justin Sweeney, Nicholas and Shane Murphy, Nathan White, Sean Leveille and Dan Lankford.
