The death of John O'Brien occurred on Wednesday, April 19, at St. Francis Hospital, LaCrosse, where he had been a patient for about two weeks. Mr. O'Brien had been in ill health for the past six years.

John O'Brien was born October 20, 1889 in Union Prairie township, a son of David and Margaret Magner O'Brien and had lived on a farm in the area until November, 1963 when he and his wife moved to Waukon.

He was married on August 31, 1938 to Florence Mullaney who survives with a sister, Mrs. John McMahon, Corwith. There are two sisters deceased.

Mr. and Mrs. O'Brien made a home for two nephews and a niece who were orphaned when young. They are James Byrd, Chicago, Ill., Col. Clem Byrd, stationed in Turkey and Sister Mary Clement, Oregon, Ill.

Funeral services were held from St. Patrick's Church on Saturday morning April 22 at 9 a.m., with interment in St. John the Baptist cemetery at West Ridge. Pallbearers were John Campbell, Harold O'Neill, Mulroy McDermott, John Emmett McMorrow, Peter Onsager and Harold Colsch.
Bakke and Hanson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
