Arla Jeanette Stuckman

Arla Jeanette Stuckman, 80, of Waukon, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2000, at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. at Salem United Church of Christ in rural Waukon, with Rev. Donald Berg and Rev. David Schafer officiating.

Casket bearers were Doug, Gary and Bruce Kubitz, Gregg Shattuck, Dean Smorstad and Chris Stuckman.

Burial was in the Church cemetery.

Arla Jeanette Sandbeck Stuckman was born Aug. 19, 1920, on the rural Waukon farm of her parents, Melvin and Clara Otelia (Scholl) Sandbeck. She was baptized and confirmed at Glenwood Lutheran Church and attended the rural Bell School and Waukon High School.

She worked as a waitress at the S&D Cafe in Waukon for 18 years.

On Feb. 25, 1968, she married Robert Stuckman at the Glenwood Lutheran Church in rural Decorah. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ and its women's organizations, Lutheran Brotherhood and the Allamakee Farm Bureau Women. She was an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed traveling, having taken several trips to the West Coast to visit relatives.

She loved to spend time with her family and friends, and particularly enjoyed her Wednesday morning "coffee clutch".

Survivors include her husband, Robert, of Waukon; two sisters, Helen Sciple of Long Beach, Calif. and Ethel (Al) Kvammen of Decorah, along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Arla Stuckman was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Dagny Smorstad, Sophie Kubitz and Cora Krumme; and two brothers, Hartvig and Philip Sandbeck.
