The death of Mrs. Mary E. Behning occurred at the Veteran's Memorial Hospital on Sunday, April 9. Mrs. Behning had been a resident of the Carlson Nursing Home for some time and had suffered ill health for several years. Mass was said at St. Joseph's Paint Rock Church, on Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. with interment in the church cemetery.
Mary Behning was born near Harpers Ferry on April 19, 1898, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Ward. She was married on February 19, 1930, to Carl Behning at Harpers Ferry. Surviving are three children, John Behning, Waukon; Carl Behning, Zwingle, Ia., and Florence, Mrs John Jones, Harpers Ferry, ten grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Anna Garlow, Dubuque.
Martin Bros. Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
