The death of Clarence Hanson, 68, former Center township farmer, occurred at Allen Convalescent Home at Waterloo on Saturday, May 20, where he had been a resident for the past six weeks.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 23, from the Old West Paint Creek Lutheran Church, at 1:30 p.m. with interment in the church cemetery, the Rev. E.O. Baalson officiating.

Clarence Hanson was born in Center township on May, 10, 1899. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Lars Hanson. He had been a farmer and more recently worked in Cedar Rapids at the Allis Chalmers plant.

He was married on June 1, 1927 to Hazel Lippie (sic). There are two children surviving, Mrs. Mildred Meighan, Fredericka, with whom he had made his home since 1950, and Wilma, Mrs. Honroe Evanson, Harpers Ferry. There are seven grandchildren and a brother Almer J. Hanson, Waukon.

Martin Bros. Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Clarence E.A. Hanson
Frederika - Clarence Emil Alvin Hanson, son of Lars and Mathilda (Hanson) Hanson, was born May 10, 1899, at Waukon. On June 1, 1927, he was united in marriage with Hazel Lippie. They farmed in Center Township, Allamakee County, Iowa. He was later employed for ten years by the Allis Chalmers Company in Cedar Rapids, retiring four years ago when he came to make his home in Frederika.

On April 11, he suffered a stroke and was hospitalized at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo and was later transferred to the Allen Convalescent Home, where he died on Saturday afternoon.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Meighan of Frederika and Mrs. Honroe (Wilma) Evanson of Harpers Ferry, one brother, Elmer of Waukon, and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one daughter who died in infancy. Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at the Old West Paint Creek Lutheran Church in Waukon with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. E.A. Baalson, assisted by Rev. W.H. Klein, officiated at the service. Martin Bros. were in charge of funeral arrangements.
