Funeral services for Fritz E. Berg, 83, of Waukon were held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday,January 31 in St. Paul's Methodist Church in Waukon, with Rev. Gerald McGee officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.
He died Sunday, January 29, at Northgate Manor, where he had been a resident for several years. He was born August 31, 1894, in Postville, to Carl and Mathilda Olson Berg. He attended the local schools and was a farmer and a carpenter.
He married Artie Barr on December 23, 1914 in Waukon. She preceded him in death in February of 1970.
Surviving are a foster daughter, Mrs. Leonard (Grace) Spilde of Ridgeway, Iowa, whom they raised from an infant: also another foster daughter, Shirley of Clear Lake; and a brother John, of Waukon.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Harry and Curtis and a brother Alfred.
