Betty Mae Mitchell, 65, died October 31, 1987 at the Good Samaritan Center, Waukon.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 3, 1987 at 11 a.m. at St. Pius Catholic Church, Cherry Mound. Father Don Hutchinson officiated. Burial was in the St. Pius Cemetery. Martin's Funeral Home, Waukon, was in charge of arrangements.

Betty Mae Mitchell was born August 7, 1922 in Illiopolis, IL to Franklin Briggs and Margery Gimbel Briggs. She received her education at Springfield, Illinois High School.

On November 4, 1939 she was married to William Mitchell at Palmyca, MO. The couple had 2 children. They lived in the Central Illinois area until 1956 and then moved to Harpers Ferry. She was a member of St. Pius, Cherry Mound Catholic Church and a member of the Rosary Society there.

Preceding her in death are her parents and one brother, George.

Surviving are her children: Charles of Marshfield, VT and Mrs. Richard (Sandra Kay) Dage, Postville; brothers William Briggs and Richard Briggs, both of Jacksonville, IL and one sister, Leda M. Rhodes, Jacksonville, IL.

Pallbearers were Dan Dage, Darren Dage, George Paulson, Joe Norton, Jack Jones and Norman Rosendahl.
