Services for Mrs. Ruth Echard, 75, were Sunday, from Martin Bros. Funeral Home to the First Presbyterian Church at two p.m. The Rev. William Tjaden officiated and burial was in Oakland Cemetery.
Mrs. Echard (died) at the Veteran's memorial Hospital following a period of ill health. She was born Ruth Elizabeth on May 11, 1882 in Clayton County. Her parents were John and Celia Kauffman Palmer. She was educated in the local schools of Elkader and has lived in Allamakee County for 57 years. On Nov. 6, 1902 she was married at Waukon by the Rev. R.L. Van Nice to John Echard who has preceded her in death. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Mabel Perrin, Mason City, Mrs. Ben Peterson and Mrs. Howard Johnson of Waukon, four sons, Orville and Kenneth, Dubuque, Harold, Cedar Rapids, and Lee of Waukon. One son, Claude preceded her in death. Sixteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive.
Pall bearers were Ralph Schon, Charles Vine, Karl Mosier, Verle Palmer, Bob Anderson and Howard Theis.
