Frances Dougherty Dies Friday in Waukon Hospital

Frances Dougherty, 89, of Waukon, died Friday, Dec. 10 at Veterans Memorial Hospital. Born Feb. 15, 1893 in Allamakee County, whe was the daughter of George and Mary Ann Brown Luth. She attended the Lansing high school and the University of Minnesota for one year and was a teacher. She and Emmet F. Dougherty were married in Lansing June 5, 1917. Mrs. Dougherty was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary and belonged to the 19th Century and Bernadette clubs. She is survived by a daughter Mrs. Bob (Jean) McDonald of Waukon; two sons, William of Grosse Point Woods, MI and James of Garden City, MI; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband in November of 1965, and brothers and sisters, Will, Clara, Peter, Mary, Dora, and Joseph. Funeral services were from St.Patrick's Catholic church in Waukon Monday morning, Dec. 13 at 11 a.m. The Rt. Rev Msgr. William Roach conducted the services and burial was in Mt. Olivet cemetery. Pallbearers were Chuck Luther, Dan Regan, Matt Ryan, John Campbell, Dale Goltz, and Bill Waldron. Martin funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
