Nora Springs Advertiser 26 Sept 1918

Milan L. STOTT was born 24 Apr 1869 at Farley, [Dubuque Co.,] Iowa and died at his home in Duluth, Minn. Tuesday 17 Sept 1918. When about five years old he moved with his parents [Hugh and Sarah Jane KEPHART STOTT] to Harper's Ferry, Iowa and five years later moved to Marble Rock [Floyd Co., Iowa]. When about 18 years old he went north and began to work for the Duluth & Iron Range Railroad. For 28 years he served that road as conductor. For several years his run was from Duluth to Ely. He was the second oldest conductor in their employ. He went back and forth and came to know nearly all who rode on that division.

In 1902 he was united in marriage to May [Mary]SCHUR in Biwabick [St. Louis Co., Minn.]. To this union were born two sons*, Frederick, now twelve and Herbert who is ten.

Milan was the youngest of a family of eight children. Of these only two remain, Mrs. A[nna] B[elle] JACKSON of Waterloo and Mrs. M[argaret] J[ane] PADDLEFORD of Nora Springs.

Services were held at his late home in Duluth Thursday afternoon, 19 Sept, then the body was brought to Nora Springs where services were held at the home of his sister, Mrs. M. J. PADDLEFORD Saturday afternoon and the body laid to rest in Park Cemetery. Rev. Pease of the Methodist church was in charge of the services. Beautiful selections were rendered by a quartet consisting of Mesdames Moody and Wiley, James Cutler and Lee Wheeler.

The abundance of the floral decorations, the gifts of the many friends, gave silent but beautiful testimony to the affection in which he was held. (Poem included here.) (Along with above names the thank you is also signed by B[urtram] J[ohn] OAKES).

*Note: Milan and May had three children, Walter having died in infancy was not mentioned in obit.
