Mrs. CARL (Caroline L. Sebastian) LETCHFORD

Mrs. Carl Letchford, nee Caroline L. Sebastian, the daughter of Frank Sebastian and Margaret Meyer Sebastian, was born in Winneshiek county, Iowa on March 26, 1897. She was baptized in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville on May 23, 1897 and confirmed on April 9, 1911. She died at the Community Memorial Hospital on September 18, 1965, following a brief illness at the age of 68 years, six months and 23 days.

She was married to Carl Letchford on November 3, 1917. To this union was born one son, Leon. The couple began farming east of Postville, later living in the town of Postville, Frankville, Decorah and near Rossville. They have lived in and around Frankville since 1937. Mrs. Letchford worked in the telephone office in Postville for several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Frank, John, and William of Postville; and Chris, as a child at home.

She is survived by her husband; one son, Leon of Cedar Falls; two grandchildren, Leon, Jr. and Larry of Cedar Falls; two brothers, George of Postville and Henry of Park Rapids, Minnesota; one sister, Tillie, Mrs. William Meyer of Postville, and many other relatives and friends.

She was hospitalized in LaCrosse in early July, and entered the Community Memorial Hospital on September 9.

Funeral services were held at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Postville, on Tuesday, September 21, at 1:30 p.m. Interment was in the Frankville Cemetery with the Rev. Charles E. Witt, pastor of St. Paul's officiating.
