Mrs. C. B. (Amy Isabel Swenson) DAVENPORT
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Community Presbyterian Church here for Mrs. C. B. Davenport of Woden, a former resident of this community.
The rites were in charge of Rev. Ukena of West Union who served in the absence of Rev. Walter T. Martin. Burial was in Postville cemetery.
Amy Isabel Swenson, daughter of Evan and Eliza Swenson was born near Postville on May 3, 1888 and passed away on April 23, 1952 aged 63 years, 11 months and 20 days.
On October 4, 1910 she was united in marriage with C. B. Davenport of Roseville, Illinois. To this union five children were born.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband C. B. Davenport, two daughters, Mrs. Marie Bednar, Nokomis, Illinois, Mrs. Margaret Vineyard, Bakersfield, California, and Lt. Donald Davenport of Fairfax Field, Kansas City. A son Robert passed away in October 1948; another son died in infancy.
There are also eight grandchildren, Patricia, Fred and Gary Palas, Priscilla and Don Vineyard, David, son of Robert Davenport, and Karen and Don, children of Donald Davenport.
She also leaves five sisters, Maria, Kate, Ethyle, Alma and Lillian and five brothers, Arthur, Harry, Frank, Hall and Allison.
Mrs. Davenport was a member of the United Brethren Church.
Before failing health Mrs. Davenport was always happy and carefree, devoted to her family, loyal to her friends, generous and ready to lend a hand where needed.
To know her was to love her.
