Marcella L. Strub, 103, of New Albin, died Sunday, May 2, 2010 at Franciscan Skemp Hospital in LaCrosse, WI. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 6, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Albin. Rev. Daniel Knipper, Msgr. Ed Lechtenberg and Marcella's nephews, Msgr. Cletus Hawes and Fr. Donald Hawes, will officiate at the service.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 5 at the New Albin Community Center. Interment will be at the church cemetery.
Thornburg-DeVries Funeral Home of Lansing in charge of arrangements.
Marcella L. Conway was born April 26, 1907 in Taylor Township, Allamakee County. She attended school in the Harpers Ferry area. January 29, 1929 she was united in marriage to Cornelius “Nick” Strub at St. Ann’s Catholic Church at Harpers Ferry. Marcella was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, enjoyed playing cards, liked crafts and above all was a faithful wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Albin, the Altar & Rosary Society, and a member of the Centurian Society through Boston University.

She is survived by three sons, Charles Strub and friend Beverly King of Guttenberg, Earl (Sally) Strub of Grantsburg, WI, and Daniel (Lenore) Strub of St. Paul, MN; four daughters, Marcella (John) Hale of New Albin, Margaret (Tom) Dolan of Lansing, Ann (Leo) Thimmesch of Topeka, KS, and Bernice (Linus) Ott of New Albin; 29 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sisters, Celia Delaney, Sarah Wilkins, Mary Evans, Ellen Hawes, Agnes Baum, and Zita Gavin; her brothers, Peter Conway and Leo Conway; two daughters-in-law, Nancy and Mary; and three grandchildren, Larry, Andy and Mary.
