Judd Junior Longerbeam, 72, of 110 Hawthorne Drive, SW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Saturday, February 8, 1997, following a long illness. Born on March 23, 1924, in Sutliff, Iowa, to Judd and Emma Beaver Longerbeam, he married to Chrystal Koenig on June 8, 1947, in Troy, Kansas. He served in the Army as a member of the 717th Tank Battalion. Judd was a Cedar Rapids police officer for 26 years before retiring in 1979.

Survivors include his wife, Chrystal; a sister, Opal Benton, of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are three sisters-in-law, Charlotte Henning of Decorah, Patricia Koenig of Janesville, and Marian Shafer and husband, Ray, of Waukon; and a brother-in-law, Orville Koenig, and wife Irene of Castalia.

Services were held Tuesday, February 11, 1997, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral home, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Casket bearers were Leslie and Dean Henning, Reid, Gale, Darwin and Paul Koenig, Jack Campbell and Tom Gardner. Burial was held in Linwood Cemetery at Cedar Rapids.
