Arkley K. Larson, 86, of Waukon, died on Monday, May 27, 2002, at Thornton Manor Care Center in Lansing. Funeral services were held Friday, May 31, at 1:00 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon with Rev. Lynn Groe officiating Inturment was in Iowa River Cemetery, rural Dorchester. Martin Funeral assisted with arrangements.

Arkley Karina Blilie was born on November 15, 1915, in Waukon, the daughter of Adolph and Edna (Voll) Blilie. She was baptized and confirmed at the Iowa River Lutheran Church. She attended rural elementary schools and Waukon High School.

On February 8, 1934, she married Irvin Bangs. They farmed in Makee Township, rural Lansing, and after Irvin passed away, she moved to Waukon, where she worked at the Good Samaritan Center as a nurse's aid for many years.

On September 29, 1973, she married Morris Larson at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon. Arkley was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she was active in altar guild, WELCA, Mary Circle, Lenten Breakfast, and the Food Basket program.

Arkley gave freely of her love and time for her Lord and Savior, family, and friends. She volunteered as a leader of Lycurgus Lassies 4-H club for 31 years, Civics Club, Hospital Auxiliary, Makee Manor, charter member of Iowa River Cemetery Association, and served on the Board of Directors for 11 years. Anyone who knew Arkley benefited from her love for roses, her strawberry jam, peanut brittle, and pies. She had such a wonderful loving and giving heart that will live on in each person she touched. Her favorite Bible passage was Psalm 23.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Irvin Bangs and Morris Larson; one grandson, Victor Christianson, and one great granddaughter, Karina Jiminez. Survivors include two daughters: Shirley Lively of Corona, CA and Bette (Joe) Tupy of Huntley, IL; one son, Dave (Di) Bangs of Ankeny; four step-daughters: Lillian (Hilmen) Christianson of Waukon, Arleen (Larry) McGuire of Hiawatha, Margaret Kruse of Eitzen, MN, and Shirley (Charles) Rosendahl of LaCrescent, MN; two step-sons: Alton (Margaret) Herman of Lansing and Virgil (Darlene) Herman of Waukon; 34 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

Honorary casket bearers were Steve Bangs, Dick Christian, Jeff McGuire, Stan Herman, Greg Kruse, and David McGuire. Casket bearers were Cori and T. J. Bangs, Jeff Morris, Dennis Herman, Kevin Rosendahl, and Wayne Verthein.
