Funeral services for Viola M. Leubka were held Saturday, May 6, 1989 at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. The Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.
Viola Mildred Leubka, daughter of Carl and Martha (Goeke) Shafer, was born August 23, 1912 in Ludlow Township. She died Thursday morning, May 4, 1989 at Community Memorial Hospital in Postville.
She was baptized on October 20, 1912 by Rev. H. F. Sinning and confirmed on April 5, 1925 by Rev. Widmeyer. She attended rural schools in Ludlow Township.
On November 19, 1930 she was married to Roy Leubka at Waukon, Iowa. They had one daughter. They farmed near Postville all of their lives. Viola was employed by the Postville Bakery for six years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, who died December 24, 1984, and one brother, Reuben Shafer.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Merlin (Lorna) Hansmeier of Postville, two grandchildren, Mrs. Clinton (Beverly) Schnuelle of Castalia, and Wayne Hansmeier of Postville, four great grandchildren, Michelle and Todd Schnuelle, and Jeremy and Misty Hansmeier, and two sisters, Gladys Klocke of Waukon and Ruth Shafer of Postville.
Viola has been a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church sine March 17, 1940.
Casket bearers were Ben Fiet, Clifford Held, Ray Shafer, Leo Flage, Virgil Opfer, and David Leubka.
