Emma (Harnack) Meyer
 
Mrs. Louis Meyer, nee Emma Harnack, the daughter of Christ Harnack and Dorah Sass Harnack, was born June 20, 1868 at Clayton Center, Iowa. She was baptized in the Lutheran Church at Clayton Center and was confirmed on April 2, 1882. She died at the Community Memorial Hospital on May 20, 1963, after a brief illness at the age of 94 years and 11 months.

She was married to Louis Meyer on October 8, 1888. To this union were born three sons and three daughters. The couple farmed in Allamakee County until they retired in 1919 and moved to Postville.

She was preceded in death by her husband; three sons, Walter, Hall, and an infant son; one daughter, Ella, Mrs. Horace Gordanier; one brother, John Harnack and four sisters, Mrs. August Dahl, Mrs. John Krambeer, Mrs. Joe Schultz and Mrs. John Schroeder.

She is survived by two daughters, Adaila, Mrs. Elmer Zieman, and Mabel, Mrs. Leo Heins; 13 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

She was a faithful member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church of Postville all of her life, and an honor roll member of the Lutheran church Women.

Funeral services were conducted at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Postville on Wednesday, May 22, at 2:00 with the Rev. Charles E. Witt officiating. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.
