Ralph LaVelle 1914-1964

Ralph LaVelle, son of William and Celia (Russell) LaVelle, was born February 26, 1914, in Postville, Iowa.

He passed away on April 22, 1964 in Postville as the result of a heart attack, at the age of 50 years.

Ralph attended the public schools of Postville and was graduated from high school in 1932.

On October 4, 1941, Ralph LaVelle was married to Ruth Maxine Hills at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.

Ralph worked as a clerk in the local post office for more than 27 years.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Linda LaVelle of Mankato, Minnesota, and Rebecca LaVelle of Minneapolis, Minnesota; three sisters, Phyllis LaForm of Santa Monica, California; Ruth Sires, Waterloo, and Mrs. Clarence (Esther) Reiser of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; two brothers, Harry LaVelle of Savannah, Illinois and Ashley LaVelle of Frankville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. Ralph served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church, Brotherly Love Lodge 204 A.F. & A.M., Arthur Brandt Post No. 518, and was a charter member of the Postville Drum and Bugle Corps.

Funeral services were held at the Community Presbyterian Church Saturday with the Rev. Walter T. Martin in charge. Masonic and Military services were conducted at the Postville cemetery where interment took place.
