Waukon Soldier Killed in Vietnam

Waukon - Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Riley of Waukon were notified by army representatives from Waterloo Thursday that their son, Pfc. James Riley, 18, was killed in action in Vietnam last Monday. The army said he was killed while on a combat operation when a hostile force was encountered. He was a member of Company Bravo B, First battalion, 20th infantry, 23rd infantry division, America.

He had been in Waukon just a few weeks ago, when he was married to Alice A. Folsom of Waukon. He is survived by his parents; his wife; five sisters, Jane, Patty, Mary Jo, Cindy and Jennie; and two brothers, Jack and Michael, all of Waukon.

Funeral arrangements here are pending arrival of the body.

Pfc. Riley's Rites Friday at Waukon
Waukon - Services for Pfc. James Riley, 18, killed Nov. 16 in Vietnam, will be conducted Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Catholic church. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Riley of Waukon. Friends may call Thursday at Bakke-Hansen funeral home.
