Hall Ellis
The summons came to the deceased to pass from this life into life eternal, June 19, 1920. He resided at 6320 Ruby street. Hall Ellis was born near Montreal, Canada, Nov. 1st, 1834, and had he been privileged to live until next Nobember he would have reached his 86th year. He was the oldest child and only son of Jonathan and Lusetta Ellis. In his fourth year the family moved to Maysville, O., where Mr. Ellis grew to manhood. From Ohio he moved to Postville, Iowa. Here he met Jennie Owens to whom he was united in marriage Nov. 21, 1857. Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Ellis, all of whom, with Mrs. Ellis, survive the deceased. They are Mrs. Ella Hawkins, Mrs. Edith Couch and Mr. C.G. Ellis of Los Angeles, and Mr. C.B. Ellis of Greeley, Colorado.

In 1908 Mr. and Mrs. Ellis came to Los Angeles. Until Mr. Ellis retired from active work he engaged in farming. His fraternal relations were with the Masonic order. He joined the lodge when a young man and always kept his membership with the Postville lodge. Shortly after his marriage he united with the Methodist Episcopal church and remained loyal to his church until he passed away. Funeral services were held at the Cresse undertaking parlors in charge of his pastor, Rev. Guy M. McBride, with burial in Forest Lawn. - Garvanza (Calif.) Eagle, July 2, 1920.
ed: The deceased will be remembered well by the older residents of this locality, he having for years resided on his farm north of town, now occupied and owned by W.L. Meyer.
