Hans E. Vold, 83, Rites Are Held

Funeral services for Hans E. Vold, 83, who died Friday, were held Monday at Bakke-Hanson Funeral Home at 1:30 and two o'clock at St.John's Lutheran Church of which he was a charter member. The Rev. Nelson Preus conducted the services. Burial took place in Oakland Cemetery with the following pallbearers: Charles Kosbau, Leonard Hansmeier, John R. Johnson, Herbert Geving, Joseph Geving, and Adolph Larson. Mr. Vold was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Evan Wold of Biri, Norway, where he was born Sept 5, 1867. When a young man he and his brother Otto learned the tinner's trade. In 1888 they came to Waukon, he did his trade here until his retirement due to advancing age, his business career being marked with honesty and fidelity. On Dec. 17, 1889 his marriage to Hannah Johnson took place at the Bjorn Geving farm home. She survives with four daughters, Mrs. Anton Lee (Ella), Eau Claire, Wis., Mrs. Harry Helming (Helma), Evanston, Ill., Mrs. R.J. Carlson (Alma), Cedar Falls, and Mrs. Ed Haehlen (Helen) Waterville. One sister, Mrs. Bergina Berg of Eau Claire, Wis., is living. There are twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. The children were present at the burial service with the exception of Mrs. Haehlen who is in California. His sons-in-law, Harry Helming and Dr. Carlson also attended.
