Services Held For Mrs. Hans Vold
The death of Mrs. Hans Vold, former Waukon resident occurred Friday Jan. 17 at the home of her daughter Mrs. Ed Haehlen in Menlo Park, Calif. Hannah Inga Johnson was born at Biri, Norway March 1, 1870 the daughter of Helena Tronson and John Johnson. She came to America in 1887 and married Hans Vold at the Old West Paint Creek Church. Survivors are four daughters Mrs. A.C.(Ella) Lee, EauClaire, Wis., Mrs. H, F, (Hilma) Helming, Evanston, Ill., Mrs. R.J. (Alma) Carlson, Sioux City, and Mrs. Ed (Helen) Haehlen, Menlo Park, Calif. A daughter in law Mrs. Orra Vold of EauClaire, Wis., 12 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were Tuesday Jan. 21 from St.John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Vaaler officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery. Pallbearers were three grandsons; Robert Lee, Dolton, Ill., Norman Carlson, Omaha, Neb., Bruce Carlson, Fort Dodge, and three nephews, John M. Johnson, Waterville; Theodore Geving, and Robert Johnson of Waukon. Mrs. Vold was the last living charter member of St.John's Lutheran Church. Her husband preceded her in death in 1950. Relatives from away were Mrs. Gunda Martindale and son Postville; Mrs. Belle Mickey, Mason City; Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Lee and daughter Freyja, Dolton, Ill.; Mrs. Orra Vold, Mr. and Mrs. William Thompson and Mauritz Goss, Eau Claire, Wis., Mrs. Anna Johnson, Pigeon Falls, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Milton Thompson, Arcadia, Wis., Mrs. Mattie Svenum, and Mr. Lier, LaCrosse, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Orlando Grefstad, George Grefstad, and Mrs. Mrs. Helland Bode; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gerlich and Mr. and Mrs. George Peterson of Higlandville.
