Funeral Rites For Benjamin Troendle Held

A funeral mass was offered Saturday, July 27 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lycurgus, for Benjamin Troendle, a life-long resident of Makee Township, Allamakee County, who died July 24 at the Prairie du Chien Hospital in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.

Rev. Lang of Wexford officiated and interment was in the Lycurgus cemetery. Francis Plein, Ralph Welch, Cletus Rooney, John Hammel, Bob Curtin, and Danny Welch served as pallbearers. Bakke and Hanson was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Troendle was born August 28, 1893 in the Lycurgus vicinity and was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Gustave Troendle. In October 1919, he married Gertrude Haas in the Lycurgus church. She preceded him in death. Surviving are two sons, Walter and Raymond, and two brothers, George and Elmer of Waukon, and six grandchildren. One sister, Stella, preceded him in death.

Mr. Troendle attended the local schools and was a farmer in the area and an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at the time of his death.
