Alfred Conrad Kruger 1921-1988

Funeral services for Alfred C. Kruger, 67, of Waukon, were held Saturday, Dec. 17, 1:30 p.m. at Salem United Church of Christ, rural Waukon. Rev. Elsa Marsland officiated. Martin's Funeral Service, Waukon, was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Salem cemetery with military rites.

Alfred Conrad Kruger, son of Frederick W. Kruger and Clara Alvina Bechtel Kruger was born March 31, 1921 in Ludlow Township, Allamakee County. He died December 14, 1988 at the VA Medical Center, Knoxville, IA.

He received his education in rural schools (Ludlow #3) and graduated from Waukon High School. He was in the Army during WW II, serving in Normandy, Northern France, and Rhineland -- 1942-1945.

On April 25, 1946 he married Lorna Winke at Salem United Church of Christ parsonage. He was a lifetime area resident. He worked for the Ludlow Community Dairy for 30 years, was a farmer and seed corn dealer. He was a member of the American Legion for 30 years and was a member of the Salem united Church of Christ.

Preceding him in death were 2 brothers, Reuben and Robert.

Survivors include his wife Lorna; children, Mrs. Roger (Sheryl) Peterson, Waukon; Marcia Roe, Slater, IA; Mrs. Glen (Janine) DuCharme, McGregor; Freddie, Santa Maria, CA and Randy, Waukon; 13 grandchildren and a brother, Amos Kruger, Cedar Rapids.

Honorary Pallbearers were Kenneth Flage, Karl Mosier, Dale Reeder, Clifford Held, Ronnie Jahnke, Herman Willger, Reuben Meier and Ben Winkie. Pallbearers were Leo Brink, Richard Winke, James Meier, James Kruger, Roger Kruger, Herb Ehrie.
