Juliet Cecelia Engen, 90, died Monday, Dec 18 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec 23 at Old West Paint Creek Lutheran Church. The Rev. Gary Bachman conducted the 11 a.m. services and burial was in the church cemetery. Hanson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She was born May 4, 1899 in Winneshiek County to Jens and Lens Nilsolokken Ehrie and attended rural schools. Sept 17, 1923 she married Selmer Engen at Glenwood Lutheran Church. She was a member of Old West Paint Creek Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Andrew (Loretta) Sorum of Decorah, a son Gordon of Waukon, nine grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, six brothers and sisters, Ruth Kittleson, Beata Gilbertson, Stella, Johanna Nash, and Jergen Ehrie; a half-sister, Nora Smorstad, and a half-brother, Edgar Ehrie.
Casket bearers were Ordell, David, and Jerry Sorum, and Larry, Kenny and Jim Engen.Waukon Republican and Standard
