Mrs. Inez Kiesau died April 2 at the Good Samaritan Home where she had been a resident for three years.

Inez was born March 16, 1885 and had celebrated her 97th birthday several weeks ago. Her parents were Carrie Steffens Goeke and August Goeke. She was the youngest of four children. Two sisters, Clare (Mrs. Theo. Selbert), Anna (Mrs. Fred Straate) and a brother, Otto Goeke, preceded her in death.

Inez was confirmed in the Salem Reformed church in her youth. On April 6, 1906, she and Albert Kiesau were married. They farmed a homestead in Winneshiek County all their married years. There were four children: twins, Mary Anna (deceased) and Inez (Mrs. Art Thoma) of Postville; a son, Roland, who died in June, 1977 and Marion (Mrs. Robert Stock) rural Waukon.

Mrs. Kiesau was a member of the Salem Reformed Church since it came into being and was the last living charter member. She was active in her church as long as health permitted.

Inez has seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

After her husband passed away in 1939, she came to Waukon and did alterations for Hales Store and Graham's for 25 years, and then lived with her daughter for several years.

Funeral services were held at Salem United church of Christ, rural Waukon, Monday, April 5 at 10:30 a.m. Burial was in the church cemetery.
