Mrs. F. W. (Emma Louisa Deppe) KIESAU

Funeral services for Mrs. F. W. Kiesau, who passed away Christmas morning, were held Monday, December 28, at the Schutte Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Walter T. Martin in charge; church services were held at the Salem Reformed Church in Ludlow at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. W. G. Clausing in charge. Burial was in the Salem cemetery.

Emma Louisa Deppe, the daughter of the late Adolph and Minnie Deppe, was born in Jasper county, Iowa on February 24, 1870. She passed away at Postville Community Hospital on December 25, 1959 at the age of 89 years and approximately 10 months. She was next to the youngest of seven children, five of who preceded her in death. She is survived by one brother, Edward Deppe, 92, of Baxter, Iowa.

Her early life was spent on the farm in Jasper county. She attended public school in Baxter and later graduated from the Des Moines conservatory of Music.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Reformed Church of Baxter. In 1899 she was united in marriage to Dr. Fred W. Kiesau in the Baxter church.

Dr. and Mrs. Kiesau lived at Norfolk, Nebraska for four years and then moved to Frankville in 1902 where they lived until 1914. At this time they moved to Postville where they lived until her death.

Mrs. Kiesau became a member of the Salem Evangelical and Reformed Church in 1902. She served as accompanist for the Salem male quartet for many years. During the last number of years, she attended church in Postville and at the Salem church. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary; an honorary member of the Board of Foreign Missions of the United Presbyterian Church in the U. S. A.; a member of the United Lutheran Women's Association of Postville.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. F. W. Kiesau; two daughters, Mrs. Paul L. Bowlin of Minneapolis and Mrs. Donald N. Eames of Yardley, Pennsylvania, and a son, Dr. Milton F. Kiesau of Postville. She is also survived by six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
