Dr. FREDERICK W. KIESAU

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 1, for Dr. F. W. Kiesau, 94, prominent Postville physician, who died Monday, January 29, at the Community Memorial Hospital.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home with the Rev. Walter T. Martin, pastor of the Community Presbyterian Church, in charge, and at the United Church of Christ, Ludlow township, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Walter G. Clausing, pastor of that church, in charge. Burial will be in the Salem cemetery.

Frederick W. Kiesau, son of Henry and Florentine, was born October 13, 1867 at Plymouth, Wisconsin. He passed away Monday, January 29, 1962 at the Community Memorial Hospital at Postville at the age of 94 years.

He attended Lenox college at Hopkinton, Iowa and the State University of Iowa where he received a degree in pharmacy. Later he attended the Medico-Chirurgical college, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he received his M. D. degree. He operated, with his brother, a drug store at Norfolk, Nebraska. He practiced medicine in this same community after receiving his degree.

In 1899 he was married to Emma Louisa Deppe of Baxter, Iowa. The couple moved to Frankville, Iowa in 1902 where he continued to practice medicine until such time, 1914, when he moved to Postville, Iowa. His active practice continued at this location until 1955, approximately 60 years.

Mrs. Kiesau passed away December 25, 1959. He is survived by a son, Milton F. of Postville; two daughters, Mrs. Paul L. Bowlin (Esther) of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Mrs. Donald Eames (Lillian) of Yardley, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Anna Bieber of Waukon.

He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ of Ludlow township and active in the Postville Community Presbyterian Church. He served for many years as health officer for the town of Postville; served as a member of the school board for several terms; was a director of Postville State Bank for a number of years; and was a member of the Postville Commercial and Kiwanis clubs.
