Services Were Held For Richard Falb

Services were held Wednesday, October 1 at the First Presbyterian Church in Creston and graveside services were conducted Thursday, October 2 in Postville for Dr. Richard O. Falb, 26, who passed away Monday, September 29 at Creston. The Rev. Dick Harberts officiated at the Postville service.

Richard O. Falb, was born June 18, 1943 in Postville. He was the son of John and Honorine (Otley) Falb, Jr.

He attended the public schools in Postville and graduated from high school in 1961, where he had been active in Boy Scouts, chorus, choir, band, dramatics and athletics. He attended the University of Iowa from 1961-1963 as undergraduate, graduating from and receiving his DDS from the Iowa College of Dentistry in 1967. He was a member of Delta Upsilon, social fraternity and Delta Sigma professional dental fraternity.

Dr. Falb was commissioned a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, having received training at Bethesda Naval Hospital in the summer of 1965, Camp Pendleton Hospital, 1966 and interned at Oakland Naval Hospital, 1968.

He was united in marriage to Mary McConkie of Cedar Rapids, July 24, 1965. He is survived by his wife, one son, David Richard, born July 1, 1969; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Falb, Jr. of Postville; one sister Kathryn (Mrs. John Gutz) of Cedar Rapids, and two brothers, John O. of West Union and Mark of Iowa City, two nieces and one nephew.

Dr. Falb had practiced dentistry in Creston for a year and a half prior to his death. He was serving as deacon in the First Presbyterian Church of Creston, was an active member of the Men's Chorus, the Creston Country Club and the Elks Club.
