FUNERAL FOR WILLIS BRANDT WAS SATURDAY

Last rites were held Saturday afternoon from Bakke-Hanson funeral home and Bethlehem Presbyterian church for 32-year old Willis Brandt of Waukon. Brandt was electrocuted about 4 p.m. Wednesday when he came in contact with a 2,200 volt power line just west of Asbury. He was living in Dubuque, and had been helping move power line poles in connection with widening of Asbury road.

Brandt was atop one of the poles when he apparently slipped, involuntarily grabbing two wires in an effort to break his fall. Fellow workers lowered him from the pole and applied artificial respiration until the arrival of an ambulance which took him to Mercy hospital, Dubuque. He was pronounced dead on arrival.

Norbert Behr, Dubuque county coroner, said no inquest was to be held. The body was transferred from Dubuque to Waukon on Friday afternoon.

Edward and Leona Ludeking Brandt were his parents. He was born March 22, 1924, in Waukon, and his home was there until about a year ago when he went to Dubuque.
