Rites Held for Joseph Kelly

Joseph F. Kelly, 69, of Harpers Ferry, died at his home on March 6. He was a retired postmaster. He was born January 25, 1915 in Harpers Ferry, the son of Michael and Ida Cota Kelly. He was married August 6, 1946 in Harpers Ferry to Rose Marie Mohn. He was Harpers Ferry postmaster for 33 years. His survivors include three daughters, Marlene Sampson of Dubuque, Mrs. Loni (Jeanne) Seitz of Hiawatha, and Cindy Kelly, at home; four sons, James of Marlo, Okla., Robert of Waukon, Sergeant Kenneth Kelly of Midwest City, Okla., and Rich of Harpers Ferry; one sister, Sister Paschal of Dubuque; two brothers, Father Lawrence Kelly, S.J. of Milwaukee, Wis. and Clem Kelly of Dubuque; and nine grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 9, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Harpers Ferry, with burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Hanson funeral home of Waukon was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Thomas, Ralph, Cyril, Leon, and Roger Mohn and Gregg Kelly.
