LANSING, Iowa--Services for Carl O. Slindee, 73, of 560 Center St. will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Our Savior Lutheran Church, Lansing, with the Rev. Terry Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, with military rites by Lansing American Legion Post 50.
Friends may call at the Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home, Lansing, today from 4 to 9 p.m. with Masonic services to be at 8 p.m. Friends also may call at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the services.
Slindee died Sunday, Aug. 18, 1985 in his home.
He was born June 30, 1912, in Decorah, Iowa to Ole and Ida (Ammunson) Slindee. He married Alice Pfiffner on June 10, 1946.
Prior to his retirement, he was a machinist at the Lansing Button Factory for many years.
He was a Veteran of World War II and a member of Lansing American Legion Post 50.
He also was a member of Evergreen Lodge 144, Free and Accepted Masons and was a member and president of Oak Hill Cemetery Association.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, Dean of La Crosse and Brian of Lansing; two daughters, Marie Slindee of Minneapolis and Diane Habjan of Lebanon, Ore.; a grandchild; three sisters, Clara Forde of Decorah, Emma Hanson of Great Falls, Mont., and Irene Johnson of Lansing; and three brothers, Alfred of Paris, Ky., Harris of La Crosse and Everett of Hokah, Minn.
Two sisters preceded him in death.
Memorials may be given to the new Allamakee County Group Home for Retarded Citizens.
