Funeral services for Elizabeth L. Kepler, 68, of Tama were held Monday, December 23 from the Mason-Hand Funeral Home of Tama with the Rev. Dewey Grimes, Pastor of the Tama Assembly of God officiating. Internment was held at Monona City Cemetery at Monona. A memorial fund is being established.

Elizabeth L. (Mrs. Max) Kepler, 86, of Tama, died Friday, December 20, 1996 at Marshalltown Medical Surgical Center in Marshalltown. She had been a patient there with cancer.

Elizabeth was born to Edward and Eva Colvin Fish July 20, 1928 at Postville. She received her schooling in the rural schools of Postville and Waukon, Iowa, and attended Postville High School through the 11th grade.

Her first marriage was on June 5, 1955 to Carl M. Schultz of Luana at Postville, Iowa. Mr. Schultz died October 19, 1966. She was united in marriage to Max Dale Kepler of Shellsburg, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Urbana-Shellsburg area until moving to Clutier in 1969 and in 1981 moved to Tama where Mrs. Kepler was employed at the Sunnyhill Care Center as a nurses aid and dietitian until her health forced her into retirement. Mr. Kepler died August 3, 1996.

Mrs. Kepler was a member of the Clutier Community Church and the Clutier American Legion Auxiliary.

Preceding her in death are her two husbands, her parents, two brothers and a sister.

Surviving are nine children, Randy L. Schultz of Tama, IA, Sus M. (Mrs. Kevin) Schultz-Greiman of Haverhill, IA, Sandy L. (Mrs. Max) Morgen of Cedar Rapids, IA, Phyllis I. (Mrs. Ivan) Parbs of Vinton, IA, Nancy S. (Mrs. Larry) Adair of Palo, IA, David C. Kepler and wife, Betty, of Mound View, MN, Patricia A. (Mrs. Steve) Fisher of Garrison, IA, Garry W. Kepler of Tama, IA, and James D. Kepler of Iowa City, IA, 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, a brother and three sisters, John Fish of Shellsburg, Elvina Knoxx of Bianine, MN, Mary (Mrs. Roger) Pahl of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Deve (Mrs. Harry) Ford of Waukon, and 15 nieces and nephews.
