Mrs. WILLIAM (Elizabeth Tayek) KOZELKA 1891-1959

Elizabeth Tayek Kozelka, a lifelong resident of the Monona and Postville area, was born near Watson, Iowa, in Giard Township near Monona on May 21, 1891. The daughter of Anton Tayek and Anna Lestina Tayek, she was educated in the Giard township school.

She was married August 1, 1911 at St. Patrick's Church in Monona, Iowa, to William Kozelka of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin and to this union were born two children: Edward W. and Eileen Elizabeth. They settled in Postville, where they operated a shoe store until 1952. She was a member of St. Bridget's Church of Postville. Although in failing health for the past several years she passed away suddenly on Monday, December 14, 1959, at her home, at the age of 68 years, six months, and 23 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Tayek; one daughter, Eileen (Mrs. Donald Willard); one sister, Mary Tayek; and three brothers, John, Anton, Jr. and Michael.

She is survived by her husband, William Kozelka; one son, Edward W. of Postville; one granddaughter, Gail Kathleen Kozelka; five brothers, Joe Tayek of Monona, Ben Tayek of McGregor, Fred Tayek of Monona, Jacob Tayek of St. Paul, Minnesota and Frank Tayek of Monona.

Funeral services were held at St. Bridget's Church on Wednesday, December 16, 1959 at 9:30 a.m. with Rev. Francis J. Vallaster officiating and burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.
