Mrs. Ruby Zoaletta Kolowinski, daughter of Charles and Eunice Thornton, was born October 26, 1893 at Hardin, and passed away at the Lutheran hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, December 16, 1967.
Mrs. Kolowinski received her education in the rural schools of this area and grew to womanhood in this community. On December 28, 1910 she was united in marriage to Claude Bacon of Monona. To this union were born three daughters: Lois, Mrs. Joe Hagensick of Decorah; Leona, Mrs. Merrill Gruber of Waukon, and Doris, Mrs. James Ewing of Postville. Mr. and Mrs. Bacon were engaged in farming until Mr. Bacon's death, August 4, 1936.
On February 20, 1937 she was married to Jake Kolowinski of Waukon. They farmed until they retired 14 years ago and moved to Rossville.
Mrs. Kolowinski is survived by her husband; three daughters; three step children, Lois, Eudora and John; one brother, Fred, of Zion, Illinois; one half brother, Richard Hulse of Hammond, Indiana; six grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, Lillian and one brother, Edward.
Services were Monday at 2:00 from Martins Funeral Home with Rev. Curtis Webster officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery at Waukon.
