Funeral services for Esther Anna Kloke were held Saturday, Dec. 30, 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, rural Postville. Rev. James Elvig officiated. interment was in Bethlehem Cemetery. Martin Bros. Funeral Home, Waukon was in charge of arrangements.
Esther Anna Kloke, daughter of Henry and Anna Menke Duvel was born Dec. 19, 1895. She died Thursday, Dec. 28 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. She was the youngest and last surviving member of her family.
She attended rural school in Ludlow Township. She was baptized and confirmed at the Salem United Church of Christ.
On Sept. 25, 1919, she married Albert John Kloke. They had 3 sons and 2 daughters.
She was a homemaker farming with her husband in Ludlow township for 40 years. In 1960 after his death, she moved to Waukon and remained in her home until 1984 when she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center.
She was a lifetime resident of this area. After her marriage Esther became a member of the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church where she was active in the Presbyterian Women's Group.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Albert in 1959, 5 brothers, Henry, Fred, Charles, Albert and William and 2 sisters, Minnie Depping and Mary Klein; and by her daughter Mary Ann Miller.
She is survived by 3 sons, Leo, Robert and Milo and a daughter, Bernita Hanson, all of Waukon. There are also 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Casket bearers were Larry and David Klocke, James and Richard Hanson, Dennis and Kloke, Eddie Knuppe and Charles Bloxham.
