Funeral services for Elmer Klinge were held Thursday, July 23, 1987 at 2 p.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville. The Rev. Donald Loots officiated. Interment was in the Farmersburg-Wagner Cemetery, rural Farmersburg.

Elmer George Klinge, son of Henry and Ida (Palas) Klinge, was born November 25, 1892 in Farmersburg Township, Clayton County, Iowa. He died Sunday, July 19, 1987 in the Good Samaritan Center at Postville.

He was baptized January 7, 1893 at Clayton Center and confirmed March 24, 1907 at the Lutheran Church in Farmersburg. He attended the Hawkeye School in Farmersburg Township.

June 19, 1918 he was married to Alma Lenth. They had 2 children.

They lived on a farm near Farmersburg, moving to Luana in 1947. In 1957 they moved to Postville and in 1970 they moved to Clermont. Elmer had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Postville for the past 18 months.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Alama, who died in 1972, an infant daughter, and two brothers, Arthur and Helmuth.

Surviving is a son, Clifford and his wife, Naomi, of Clermont, 4 grandchildren, Lew, Jody (Gaylord) Wooge, Lisa and Kirby and 2 sisters, Ora Daugs of Port Orchard, WA and Vera Volz of Postville.

Casket bearers were John, Jeff, Jason and Kirby Klinge, and Gaylord and Chaldon Wooge.
