Funeral services for Selma Kirkestue were held Saturday, April 29, 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. Rev. Julius Peterson officiated. Interment was in the Postville Cemetery. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Selma Kirkestue, daughter of William and Anna (Daubelstein) Beisker, was born June 17, 1907 on a farm near Postville. She died Thursday afternoon, April 27, 1989 at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital, Decorah.

She attended rural school at Highland near Postville.

On February 15, 1927 she married Leonard Kirkestue at McGregor, IA. They had one son. They farmed near Postville. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, who died November 24, 1978, 3 sisters, Anna Henry, Emma Livingood and Amanda Livingood, and 2 brothers, George Beisker and William Beisker.

She is survived by her son, Edwin and his wife, Ellen of Postville, 3 grandchildren, Sue Ellen Mork, Milton and Kenneth Kirkestue, 6 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Jessie Fitzpatrick and Audrey Schroeder, both of Postville, and many nephews and nieces.

Pallbearers were William Livingood, Bernard Livingood, Herman Polfer, John "Jack" Beisker, Gilbert Livingood, Milo Kuhse and David Beisker.
