Former Ludlow resident Dies At Madison, Wis.
Mar 3 1945?? (hand-dated on clipping)Mrs. Wm. Krumme of Ludlow departed Monday for Madison, Wis. To attend the funeral of her brother, Simon Becker, who passed away Saturday morning at a hospital in that city. He had been in ill health for several months past. Deceased was born and reared in Allamakee county and was about 75 years of age.
Surviving are a daughter and three sons, one of whom is Harvey with whom he made his home in Madison. There are also three sisters and a brother, namely Mrs. Henry Bechtel, Waukon; Mrs. Wm. Krumme, Ludlow; Mrs. A. J. Goulette, Indianapolis, Ind., and Paul Becker of California.

March 14, 1945As mentioned in the last week’s paper, S. H. Becker, 72, passed away in a hospital at Madison, Wis., following a lingering illness. He was born in Ludlow township and after attaining manhood farmed in that vicinity, later moving to Saint James, Minn., then to New Ulm, that state, and 18 years ago Madison became his home.
A Madison paper notes that “he was active in politics and served as a committeeman for the Progressive party from the 14th ward and also as an election official.”
Surviving are a daughter and four sons, Mrs. Estelle Paukow and Harvey Becker, Madison; Louie, Duluth, Minn.; Harold, Bridgeport, Conn., Lieut. (j.g.) Leslie Becker, in foreign service. Also three sisters, Mrs. William Krumme, Ludlow, Mrs. Henry Bechtel, Waukon, and Mrs. Clare Goulette, Indianapolis, Ind.; 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.Funeral services were held in Dyrud funeral home at Madison, conducted by Dr. Robert Atkins of the First Methodist church. Burial took place in Roselawn cemetery.

S. H. Becker Former County Resident PassesFuneral services were held Tuesday, March 6, 1945, at 2 o’clock for s. H. Becker, former Allamakee resident, in the Dyrud funeral home at Madison, Wisconsin. The Dr. Robert Atkins of the First Methodist church officiated at the service. Burial was made in the Roselawn cemetery at Madison. Pallbearers were prominent members of the Progressive party.
S. H. Becker was born June 5, 1872, in Ludlow township, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Becker and died March 3, 1945, at the Methodist hospital at Madison, Wis. He had been in failing health for the past year and on Feb. 17th he suffered a paralytic stroke which was the cause of his death.
At the age of 20 years he was married to Miss Lydia Goeke of Waukon. They became the parents of four sons and one daughter all of whom survive. Mrs. Estelle Panko, Madison; Louie, Duluth; Harvey, Madison; Harold, Bridgeport, Conn.; Lt. (j.g.) Leslie, who is serving overseas; also surviving are one brother, P. A. Becker of Los Angeles; three sisters, namely, Mrs. Henry Bechtel and Mrs. William Krumme, of Waukon and Mrs. A. J. Goulette, Indianapolis. Three brothers preceded him in death. 14 grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren survive.
The deceased was an active Progressive party worker. He was progressive committeeman from the 14th ward, where he also served as an election official. He has resided in the city of Madison for the past 18 years. For a time he lived at St. James and New Ulm, Minnesota.
From a scrapbook of Ella, Mrs. William Krumme, continued by her son, Milton Krumme. All articles were neatly clipped so I do not know what paper they were from.
