Clifford Bernard Osmundson

Funeral services for Clifford Osmundson were held Monday, June 6, at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.

Clifford Bernard Osmundson, son of Lars K. and Elizabeth (Overhouse) Osmundson, was born June 25, 1902 in Fayette County near Clermont. He passed away Friday morning June 3, in Community Memorial Hospital at Postville. He was baptized August 10, 1902 in the First Lutheran Church at Ossian, by the Rev. P. S. Stenerson and confirmed there on October 29, 1916 by the Rev. O. Andersen. He attended the rural school near his home.

On December 22, 1927 he was married to Gudrun Lyngaas at the home of her parents in Grand Meadow Township near Postville. They were parents of 3 daughters. They farmed from 1927 to 1953 when they moved to Postville. Clifford worked as a carpenter for many years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Leonard, Oscar, and Thomas, 3 sisters, Mabel and Lillian and a sister in infancy.

He is survived by his wife, Gudrun, 3 daughters, Vivian Vanderbilt and her husband, Kermit, of San Diego, CA, Delores Timmerman of Decorah, and Connie Osmundson of Postville, 4 grandchildren, Gary Timmerman, Kathryn Timmerman Steege, Rebecca Timmerman, and Karen Vanderbilt, 4 great grandchildren, Paul and Larissa Steege, Ella Vanderilt-Adriance, and Marie Vanderbilt-Mathews, 5 brothers, Elmer, Nanfred, Irvin, and Russell, all of West Union, and Harry of Bremerton, WA, and 2 sisters, Minnie Nymann of Cedar Falls, and Mrs. Orville (Stella) Oyloe of West Union.

Clifford was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville.

Casket Bearers: Bill Strien, Denis Lensing, Loren Osmundson, Gary Timmerman, Leslie Jahnke, Lyle Zieman, Jon Steege, Thomas Hogan.

Honorary Casket Bearers: Joe McNeil, Vernon Anderson, Robert Kneeskern, Ray Schara, Loren Koenig, Ted Green.
