Rosella Mullaney Fitzgerald died January 15, 1951. Obituary in the Waukon Repabulican-Standard newpaper of January 16, 1951 reads:

Mrs. T. Fitzgerald Dies Suddenly

The death of Mrs. T. H. Fitzgerald, highly esteemed and lifelong resident of this vicinity, was a great shock and untold grief to her family and a wide circle of friends Monday morning. She had apparently been in her usual health; attended St. Patrick’s church Sunday and performance on of the “good deeds” for a neighbor in the afternoon. A heart attack is ascribed as the cause of death in the early morning hours January 15.

Rosella Mullaney, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Mullaney, was born in Jefferson township, April 15, 1887, where she attained womanhood.

On Sept. 7, 1920 her marriage to Timothy H. Fitzgerald took place at St. Patrick’s church, Waukon. For twenty-five years they resided at Bird Island, Minnesota. Waukon had been their home the past five years.

During her residence here Mrs. Fitzgerald had been employed as a practical nurse and her patience and cheer at the bedside of ill ones will long be remembers.

Surviving are her husband and three daughters, Mrs. Bernard Johnson, Ann Arbor, Mich., Sister Marie Annette of At. Margaret’s academy, Minneapolis and Ellen at home. Two daughter preceded her in death.

A brother, Thomas W. Mullaney, Waukon, and three sisters, Mrs. John Slattery, Waterville, Ray Ryan, Winnetka, Ill,, and Mrs. John O’Brien, Union Prairie township are also living. There is one grandchild, John Ryan, student at the University of Iowa.

The body rests at the family home on West Worcester street until Wednesday morning at 9:30 when services will be held at St. Patrick’s church. burial follows in Mount Olivet cemetery.

Waukon, Ia. - Funeral services for Mrs. T.H. Fitzgerald, 63, who died in her sleep early Monday at her home in Waukon, were set tentatively for Wednesday morning, Jan. 17, in St. Patrick's Catholic church, with burial to be in Mount Olivet cemetery.

Mrs. Fitzgerald was born to Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Mullaney in Jefferson township April 15, 1887. She married Timothy H. Fitzgerald Sept. 7, 1920, and the couple lived at Bird Island, Minn., before moving to Waukon five years ago.

She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Bernard James, Ann Arbor, Mich.; Sister Marie Annette, St. Margaret's academy, Minneapolis, and Ellen, a teacher at Waterville; a brother, Thomas Mulaney, Waukon; three sisters, Mrs. John Slattery, Waterville; Mrs. Ray Ryan, Winnethka, Ill., and Mrs. John O'Brien, Waukon; and one grandchild.
