Mabel Teeling Whalen 1962 obituary (newspaper and date unknown but local to Allamakee County) reads:
MRS. CHARLES WHALEN
WAUKON, Iowa – Mrs. Charles Whalen, 57, died Tuesday at a La Crosse hospital.
Services will be held at 9:30 a.m .Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Lycurgus, with burial in the church cemetery. The Schmidtz-Wiltgen Funeral Home is in charge.
Mrs. Whalen, the former Mabel Teeling, was born February 25, 1905, in French Creek Township, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Teeling. She was married to Carl Whalen, who preceded her in death. She then married Charles Whalen, who preceded her in death. She then married Charles Whalen, who survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Donald Scheutz of Milwaukee; and six sisters, Sister Mary Leonita and Sister Mary Rose Claire, both of La Crosse, Mrs. Thomas Lyons of Lycurgus, Mrs. R. J. Kiddy of Waukon, Mrs. A. J. Palen of Chicago, and Mrs. Ray Howes of Austin, Minn.
