Obituary for Michael Mullarkey is taken from the Allamakee Journal newspaper of August 11, 1968:

Mike Mullarkey Dies at the Age of 90

Death came to Mike Mullarkey at 2 a. m. August 8, 1968 in the Waukon Hospital where he had been a patient several times the past fourteen months.

Mike was born December 11, 1877 on a farm in Wexford, a son of Edward and Mary Conway Mullarkey. He attended a small county school and on September 24, 1913 was united in marriage to Mary Brennan who along with seven of their children mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father. They include Leo and Carl Mullarkey, Mrs. James (Evelyn) Delaney; Mrs. Francis (Leonette) Kernan, Mrs. Steve (Elenor) O’Neill, all of Wexford, Mrs. Joe (Marguerite) Manning, Lansing, Mrs. Dan (Catherine) Dowd, Waterloo; thirty-five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his oldest son William, his parents, six sisters and five brothers.

He lived on a farm in Wexford until he retired and moved to Lansing about twelve years ago. He was well known to both old and young.

A large crowd attended the funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Wexford, with Father Francis Perry, Father Thomas Schwinn, Lansing, Father Cletus Hawes, Postville, reading the concelebrated Mass and graveside prayers.

Mass servers were four grandsons, Donnie Kernan, Ray Mullarkey, Mike Dowd and Pat O’Neill. Pallbearers were Nick Wagner, Leo Manning, Ray Crowe, Tom O’Neill, John Delaney and Clarence Gavin.

Out of town relatives and friends attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. John Kernan, Bill Kernan, Rockford, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Mike Manning and son, Marquette; Mary Lou, Alice, and Rita Mullarkey, Mrs. And Mrs. Williams Sullivan, Earl Sullivan, all of Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs. Francis Delaney and family Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Delaney, Kenosha, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Brennan, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Brennan, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Bensfield, all of LaCrosse; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Steffen, Milwaukee, Wis.; Mrs. Ruth Manning and Tom, Madison, Wis.; Pat Kelly, Mr. and Mrs. John Kelly, Mrs. Robert Saleton and Honor, Elma; Mrs. Harry Lowandoski and daughter of Stoddard, Wis. And Joe Mullen of Prairie du Chien, Wis.
